Born in 1837 the 6th child of George Allen and Phoebe Cotrill he married Sara Bray on Christmas Day and had 1 child William Henry Allen who was born 24 September the following year exactly 9 months after their wedding. Witnesses at their wedding were Edwin Allen, William's younger brother, and Ellen Mountford. In 1871 he was living with his family at 130 Icknield Street, at the back of 131 was Alfred (a silversmith aged 31) & Louisa Allen and their 3 daughters (I wonder if they were related? and at number 118 James Allen aged 32 (a bootmaker) with his wife Emily. The next lane, Warstone, had the family bakers at number 32 and in 1871 it was being run by his eldest brother John. Howard (a gold chain maker ) and his wife Annie were in Wills Street, Aston, the other siblings are hard to find there is an Edwin (a gardener) his wife Maria their 3 daughters and brother Thomas (labourer and copperman) living together in Ladywood at 61 Clark Street and George (a baker) and his wife Phoebe living at No 30 George Street Walsall.
